Begin your day with a hearty breakfast before your driver/guide whisks you away from the hotel to Tarangire National Park. Famed for its expansive elephant herds, Tarangire invites you to witness the seasonal swamps, savannas, and the meandering Tarangire River from the open roof of the safari jeep. Keep a keen eye out for diverse wildlife, including zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, elephant, and giraffe. Following a full day of safari adventures, your journey continues to the welcoming Jambo Lodge or Fig Tree Lodge & Camp. There, indulge in relaxation, savor a delightful dinner, and retreat for an overnight stay.
Following breakfast, embark on a scenic drive through the crater highlands, with a pause at the rim for a breathtaking panoramic view of the Ngorongoro Crater. Continue your journey, extending your gaze across the expansive Serengeti, whose name translates to "endless plain." Spanning 6900 square miles (18000 sq km), this park is home to over 2 million wildebeest. The park's vastness attracts large predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas, drawn by the abundance of migrating prey.
The Serengeti is not just about the iconic wildebeest; it's a habitat for numerous other creatures, including rock hyraxes, bat-eared foxes, mongooses, honey badgers, jackals, monkeys, baboons, and African hares. The area is also a haven for bird enthusiasts, boasting nearly 500 species. Following an exhilarating game drive, proceed to the Seronera campsite, where you'll relish dinner and settle in for an overnight stay.
Start your day with an early awakening to catch the magic of a sunrise game drive. A quick cup of coffee or tea will fuel you as you set out to spot animals during their most active hours, all while enjoying the spectacular sunrise in the African savanna—a truly enchanting experience. By midday, return to the campsite for a rejuvenating brunch or lunch.
The adventure continues with an afternoon game drive, heading towards Simba Campsite in Ngorongoro. Here, dinner awaits, followed by a comfortable overnight stay in the midst of the wilderness.
Wake up early for a morning game drive after breakfast, descending into the crater, home to a diverse array of East African wildlife, including the rare black rhino. The crater boasts the highest concentration of wildlife globally, featuring a river, swamps, a soda lake with flamingos, a forest, and open plains. The large bull elephants in this area have impressive tusks, thanks to the nutrient-rich volcanic soil. After a 5-6 hour game drive, expect to return to Arusha around 5:00 p.m.
